Augusto Canedo

Born in Porto, Portugal in 1958. With a degree in Painting from the School of Fine Arts of Porto, Augusto Canedo taught the same subject at the Art School of Porto. He was assistant professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto (1988-2002). He holds a PhD in Art History from the University of Salamanca, was co-founder of the Quadrado Azul gallery, and in 1994 created the gallery “Por amor à Arte”. He was artistic director of the 15th, 16th and 17th editions of the Cerveira International Art Biennale (2009-2013).
He received several awards, among which the following stand out: the Bavarian Prize (2002); Almada Negreiros Prize (1995); Revelation 93 Prize from the Commercial Bank of Macau (1993) and Revelation Prize at the IV Cerveira International Art Biennale (1984). He held numerous solo exhibitions in Porto, Amarante, Coimbra, Toronto, Vigo, Barcelona, ​​Rotterdam, Paris and Salvador da Bahia.
