João Carqueijeiro

Born in Lobito, Angola in 1954. In 1982, João Carquejeiro concluded the degree in Drawing at Cooperativa Árvore, in Porto. He also specialized in Wheel, Sandstone Glazes and Raku at La Bisbal Ceramic School, in Catalonia.
He has been teaching ceramics since 1981. As a member of Cooperativa Árvore, he has been a professor of the Ceramics Open Courses since 1986.
He participated in numerous exhibitions (individual and collective), art biennales and international symposiums, having been awarded prizes several times. He created various ceramic murals.
He is represented in public museums and private collections in Portugal and abroad.
He has participated in several editions of the Cerveira International Art Biennale, as a guest artist and workshop coordinator. In 2011, he created a three-dimensional modular mural in glazed ceramic (3×10 m) for the building of the Museum of the Cerveira Biennale.
