José Carlos Loureiro

José Carlos Loureiro (1925, Covilhã) studied at the School of Fine Arts of Porto and completed his training in 1950. Since then, he has developed a solid and well-known professional activity as architect and teacher, punctuated by collaboration with Luís Pádua Ramos, architect with whom he created GALP, Lda in 1976. It was a long journey that included important participations in national and international colloquia, congresses and exhibitions, as well as a strong sense of public intervention, reflected in the managing positions he held in associations representing the profession and even in the positions he assumed in the municipality of Porto, which later awarded him the Municipality’s Gold Medal of Merit. The works he designed are spread over a wide geographic territory, although with particular focus on Porto and Northern Portugal. (see translation below)
