Henrique Silva
Born in Paredes, Portugal in 1933. Visual artist, Henrique Silva was executive director of Cooperativa Árvore (1978-1996) and Associação Projecto – Núcleo de Desenvolvimento Cultural, director of the Cerveira International Art Biennale (1995-2007 and 2015) and director of the Higher Course of Design and Fine Arts of the Escola Superior Gallaecia. He was a fellow of the Gulbenkian Foundation in Paris from 1961 to 1963. In 1977 he graduated in Visual Arts for Teaching from the Universitée de Paris VIII.
He has exhibited regularly since 1958. He has held more than 50 solo exhibitions in France, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Brazil and Portugal and more than 200 group exhibitions in Europe, America and Japan. He is currently interim president of the Founders’ Council of the Cerveira Art Biennale Foundation and of its Scientific Council.
