Pedro Cabrita Reis

Born in Lisbon, Portugal in 1956, Pedro Cabrita Reis is one of the best-known Portuguese artists today. He studied Painting at the Lisbon School of Fine Arts. His first solo exhibition was in 1981, having since then developed a complex work, with means ranging from drawing and painting to sculpture and installation.
He has exhibited and participated in numerous international exhibitions, including Documenta IX in Kassel in 1992, the 21st and 24th Biennales of São Paulo, respectively in 1994 and 1998, and Aperto, and he represented Portugal at the Biennale of Venice in 2003. Also worth mentioning is his participation in the tenth Lyon Biennale with two large works.
He was awarded the Painting Acquisition Prize at the V Cerveira International Art Biennale (1986).
