Sobral Centeno

Born in Porto, Portugal in 1948. Sobral Centeno received a scholarship from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation (1983-1985). In 1969, he formed an artistic group with Sá Coutinho and Manuel Porfírio. That same year, he enrolled in Painting at the School of Fine Arts of Porto, having concluded the course in 1978.
He was a professor at the Higher School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Porto (1987-2006). He participated in several group exhibitions in Portugal and abroad. His work is represented in several public collections, in Portugal and abroad, such as: Museum of the Cerveira Biennale, Amadeo Souza-Cardoso Museum and Museum of Contemporary Art of the State of Pernambuco.
Sobral Centeno is inextricably linked to the history of the Cerveira International Art Biennale, particularly because of his friendship with Jaime Isidoro, which is one of the reasons why he regularly collaborates in the event.
